As growing future teachers, one must know or possess skills and knowledge in conveying the lesson, mastery in his subject area and the correct choice of tools for doing so. With these as certain goals, models were created and could be used to represent the teacher’s skills and how to utilize media.
First of the two models introduced for this week was the TPACK. It is represented as the combination of the Technological, Pedagogical and Content knowledge a teacher possesses. These are shown to be circles that meet together and over time grow and become bigger as the teachers inquire new knowledge. Without even a single of these three circles existing or growing, a teacher is bound to experience difficulties.
All in all, the teacher must have the skills in operating and using technology, a great knowledge on the content and a wide array of techniques and strategies.
On another hand, in using media or technologies, a teacher could follow the acronym SAMR – Substitution, Augmentation, Modification and Redefinition.
These are helpful guides in order for the teacher to be as effective as he can be.
